Grandma's apartment is nearly all packed and moved, except for a suitcase of clothes and some cleaning supplies. I will finish that up in the next couple of weeks.
Her sleep has been hit or miss, as always, but she mentioned wanting her bed, so we made that happen along with the dresser and it is set up nice!! Hopefully, it will help her rest better.
We've had some interesting weather recently. One night, we went out front to watch a lightning show, and she came out to sit on the patio while Tod and I floated in the pool.
I wanted to follow up on a few things from my last update:
Rummikub: We invited a lady over to play cards with Grandma, but they ended up playing Rummikub. Guess what? Grandma kicked butt! Just like before, she’s still breaking up runs and moving them around like a pro! I didn’t get pictures of them playing, but I will this week. Two ladies are coming over to play cards or maybe Rummikub again. Tod and I have also played a few games with her. Last Friday night, we kept saying "one more game," and her last response was, "I don't have to get up early, let's keep going." Hahaha!
Teresa and Theo: Since the last update, Teresa and Theo have stayed over a couple of nights. Theo is great with Grandma and very protective. They even saw a roadrunner in the backyard yesterday. For the past couple of weeks, Teresa has pampered Grandma by painting her nails and another delicious BBQ chicken meal. :)
Puzzle Table: The puzzle table is a huge hit! She has finished one puzzle and moved on to the next. We should have invested in these tables because everyone who visits says they want one. Tammy ordered one as an early Christmas present for Mom and Dad, and Heather got one for Jonathan for his birthday! Grandma loves it. If you’re ever looking for gift ideas for Gigi, puzzles are great. She prefers around 300 pieces with a mix of colors.
Food: Thanks again Tammy and Adam for sending another meal! It is nice to have a night off from cooking!
I didn’t get an updated letter printed for her, even though I had it done. It helps her to be able to refer back. I will post it below. It's still good for talking points when you visit with her, but I will wrap up this update and work on a new letter for her.
This Week’s Schedule
Wednesday, 31st: I have to go out of town for the day and should be back in the evening. Andy, Cara, and the girls are going to have dinner with her. I told her last night, and her eyes lit up. She said it will be nice to spend time with them without a bunch of other people around. It's been busy for her lately, and she's very much looking forward to it.
Thursday, Aug 1st: Game Day – Cards with girlfriends.
Friday, Aug 2nd: Hair Day – We will get her there early so she can gossip with the old crew before her appointment.
Saturday, Aug 3rd: Day of Rest!
Sunday, Aug 4th: Meal Prep Day – My goal is to prep a bunch of meals for the week. I think I will try to get Grandma to the counter to help me out a bit!
Here is the letter from a week ago I didn't give her, but some of the happenings. I am trying to do an updated letter tonight for her...I think I mentioned above that I was going to "wrap up this post" That was about 8 hours ago. hahah. Time is just getting away from me and had lots of other things pop up through the day. But I am done! Woohoo! I have a meeting at 5pm and then will work on the updated letter for her and you all!
Hope everyone is doing great!
Grandma,                                                                                                 July 21, 2024

I wanted get you an update to my last letter so you had it handy when you had questions.Â
Â
You're living at Mom and Dad's in Ahwatukee, AZ (Pam and Russ) since July 7th. Everything in your apartment is still there, but we'll start moving things over gradually. We need everything out by August 11th. I am tentatively planning a big push to get things done on Saturday the 27th.
Â
We're looking for a new home for your lovely bedroom set. Unfortunately, we'll be getting rid of the sofa. Also, we are bringing your chair over to you Saturday. Other than that, nothing will be discarded—we'll store everything properly for you. I will be packing everything in bins and boxes. A couple other things you and I have talked about:
·        Posting the bedroom set for sale on the bulletin board at Robson.
·        Card Table and Chairs – you said you would like over here so you can play cards
Â
Susan is your helper. She'll usually be here Monday to Saturday from 8-2, though her schedule may vary occasionally. She just made us an incredible dinner : )Â Finally someone who cooks!
Â
You also have a nurse, Jeanie, who will visit on Mondays and Thursdays. She'll check on how you're feeling, your legs, lungs, heart, blood pressure, oxygen, and heart rate. It's important to let her know about any issues or changes from your usual health. Jeanie's goal is to help you stay comfortably at home and avoid hospital visits. Jeanie will be checking on that UTI you had Monday, July 22nd.
Â
You have a hair appointment for a cut and wash on July 23rd at 1pm, and I'll take you. After that, it'll continue as usual on Fridays.
Â
Wednesday July 24th, a couple new ladies are coming over to play Hand and Foot : )
Â
Teresa is staying the night with you again tonight, July 21st and plans to make a Hawaiian pizza for lunchÂ
Â
A couple things I will be following up on this week:
·        Communion
·        Special ceremony to honor grandpa’s service and your support
Â
Â
Mom will be back in mid to late August and plans to stay through November.
Â
Kelly called you on the portal and is heading out of town with her horse. She plans to come visit as soon as she get’s back.
Â
Darlene came to visit you last week. It sounds like you guys had a great visit!
Â
Tammy and Adam are sending us dinner on Wednesday, what sounds good?
Â
Write any questions as they come to mind here so we make sure you know everything going on! We all love you very much!
Â
Sending lots of love,
Candice
